This vinyl text wall piece consists of an appropriated text: part of a published statement by the currency speculator and stock investor George Soros, which relates ideas of ‘a reality’ to a group of unnamed ‘participants’ and to notions of causation and subjective experience. An asterisk has been added to the beginning of the text, in effect turning the text into a footnote, as if a dialogue is occurring within the gallery space.
The statement, when taken out of its original context, is used here as a kind of disclaimer referring to reality and time and uses a legalistic language and logic/illogic which is familiar from the (Western) language of financial investment.
